"Committed to our future, inspired
by our past."

It is my privilege to serve the students, families, our district, and the community as principal of Highland Falls Middle School. As the school leader, one simple notion guides my philosophy; Not only can all children learn, but all children can learn more.

Our first priority is to promote and provide high quality learning opportunities that meet the diverse needs of all learners.

This web page was designed to serve as both a communication tool and a valuable resource for parents and students. Most importantly, we hope it serves to strengthen and sustain the critically important home- school connection.

Middle School - Life in the Fast Lane

Highland Falls Middle School
Family Newsletter
October 2008

October is Month of the Adolescent an annual international collaborative effort of education, health, and youth-oriented organizations. Initiated by National Middle School Association (NMSA), Month of the Adolescent brings together a wide range of organizations to focus on the needs of this important age range, 10-15. The key messages for the celebration are:

  • The importance of parents being knowledgeable about young adolescents and being actively involved in their lives;
  • The understanding that healthy bodies plus healthy minds equal healthy young adolescents;
  • The realization that the education young adolescents experience during this formative period of life will, in large measure, determine the future for all citizens, and
  • The knowledge that every young adolescent should have the opportunity to pursue his or her dreams and aspirations, and post-secondary education should be a possibility for all.

On behalf of the faculty and staff at the Highland Falls Middle School, I thank you for your continued support and the opportunity to serve your children.

Your Partner in Education,
Ellen M. Connors
