Bienvenidos! Welcome to Spanish I! In order to be successful in studying a foreign language, consistency is of the utmost importance. This course emphasizes the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing Spanish. Upon successful completion of this course, you will earn 1 credit towards high school graduation. The following is a list of expectations and grading criteria that will be used in Spanish I:

Quarterly grades will be determined by the following:
Tests and quizzes 60%
Homework 20%
Class Participation 20%
Class Expectations
The James I. O’Neill Attendance and Eligibility policies will be strictly adhered to. Students are expected to be active participants in class. Disruptive behavior and not paying attention in class will have a negative impact on a student’s grade. Students are expected to arrive to class on time—seated and ready to begin when the bell rings. The following items are required and must be brought to class every day:
covered textbook
notebook or binder
folder
pen, pencil and paper
Homework
Written homework will be assigned on the average of three nights per week and is due the following class. Even if no written homework is assigned, students are expected to review their vocabulary lists nightly. All assignments must be handed in on time. Missed assignments due to illness, special programs or music lessons are the student’s responsibility and will be due the following day. All written work is expected to be done neatly.
