300 Wins!!!
The Boys Varsity Basketball team celebrated their Seniors on February 13th prior to their game against Chapel Field. The team came away with a 65-45 victory and after the game the team had another celebration. With the win, Coach Debra Crowe achieved the 300 win milestone in her coaching career here at O'Neill. On behalf of everyone here at the school, your current and former players, we would like to thank you Coach for everything you have done for this school over the years and the success of your basketball program. Congrats to both Seniors and to Coach Crowe on a special night!!
Indoor Track Record!!!
Congratulations to Senior Jadon Spain who last weekend tied the Section 9 record for the 55m dash at the Ocean Breeze Invitational in Staten Island. Medical Forms: To play a sport you must have a valid physical on file with the school nurse, Rita Figueira. Forms are available here.
(Per Nurse Figueira - please download the Health Examination form and the Health History form. The Health History form must be filled out prior to your physical. Please bring both forms with you the day of the physicals at O'Neill.) Please note: Due to Covid-19, this year families MUST fill out and sign the Health History form each season. See the school nurse for details.
Per the New York State Center for School Health - Sports Physical Requirements Reminder for the 2021-2022 School Year
Students wanting to participate in athletics during the 2021-2022 school year must have an up-to-date physical to participate.
The health examination for qualifying a student's participation in interscholastic athletics is valid for a period of 12 continuous months - through the last day of the month in which the exam was conducted; and through the entire sports season, even if the exam’s expiration is before the season is completed.
Before participation in each athletic season, all students must be provided an interval health history form for athletics for the parent/guardian to complete and sign- unless a physical exam has been completed within 30 days before the start of the season.
The completed interval athletic health history form(s) should be filed in the student's cumulative health record (CHR) and removed after one year.
If any new or significant health information is recorded on the interval health history, the interval health history form should be maintained in the CHR so that it remains a part of the student’s permanent health record.

Debbi Crowe Field Dedication ~ May 2021
Warm congratulations to Coach Crowe on the occasion of having our new turf field in front of James I. O'Neill High School named in her honor. O'Neill Athletics and the school community is proud and happy to see her hard work and dedication to this district for 44 years be rewarded!COACH DEBBI CROWE Debra Crowe’s teaching career, spanning 44 years at James I. O’Neill High School, began back in 1977. In addition to teaching, Debbi serves as the Department Coordinator for PE and Health, Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach, and the Athletic Director, a position she took on in 2007. The number of young lives that Debbi has touched are too numerous to count. Through the years, Mrs. Crowe would extend herself well beyond the classroom or gymnasium. On most days, she could be found advising any one of several clubs and activities, many of which she created. Some of these included Peer Mediation, Project Adventure, and Woman-to-Woman/Man-to-Man/Person-to-Person, which she presented at the National School Board’s Convention in Las Vegas in 1986. Debbi serves on several committees including the Health & Safety Committee, Senior Scholarship Committee and National Honor Society Faculty Committee. For all of this work in and out of the classroom, Mrs. Crowe received The Teaching Excellence Award from the Mid-Hudson School Study Council in 2018. As an inspiring coach, Debbi oversaw Girls Track, Girls Varsity Soccer, Varsity Volleyball and, of course, Boys Varsity Basketball. Her gender-bending role as the first female coach of a Boys Varsity Basketball team in Orange County, earned her a television interview on ESPN’s Outside the Lines in 2006. Under her guidance, the O’Neill Boys Basketball team celebrated many achievements including the NYSPHSAA Scholar Athlete Awards for 2019, 2020, 2021; Division Champs 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2019; earning the OCIAA Boys Varsity Basketball Team Sportsmanship Award in 2014; and qualifying for Sectional Tournament in 18 out of 20 seasons. Coach Crowe has also been recognized on an individual level as well. In 2013, she won the Basketball Coaches Association of New York Coach of the Year and, in 2014, Debbi was awarded the Jim Taravella Coaching Award. Mrs. Crowe enjoys giving back to the community and instills a sense of volunteerism in her athletes. Together, they tackle many community service projects - Community Clean Up, Food Drives, Gift Drives, O’Neill Sports Fun Day, and many more. She has instituted Parent/Coach/Athlete Night and Sports Awards Ceremonies for all athletes. She also helped to create the Hall of Fame in the athletics corridor to commemorate O’Neill’s outstanding teams and athletes. In the last four years, Mrs. Crowe has been pivotal in developing the vision for the Capital Project. O’Neill’s state-of-the-art athletic facilities include two turf fields, four tennis courts, a cardio-fitness and weight room, locker rooms, scoreboards, a concession stand, and a press box largely due to her input. Her passion for O’Neill is exemplified in these beautiful facilities. Coach Crowe’s strongest legacy will be the one she leaves behind in the hearts and minds of the many people she has guided through the years. She has mentored more than 150 coaches, inspired countless colleagues and athletes with her kindness and wisdom, and supported scores more both in the classroom and on the playing fields. Her inspiration to both young men and women is immeasurable. Board of Education President, Mrs. Anne Lawless, shared her praises: “Mrs. Crowe has poured her heart and soul into dedicating her entire career as a Coach, Physical Education Teacher, Mentor and Athletic Director to the students at the Highland Falls - Fort Montgomery Central School District, and for that we will be forever grateful. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts!”
Congratulations on a well deserved recognition!
