Maestro Lazo

  • Bienvenidos a Español I y II!

I am very excited to be a part of the faculty at James I O'Neill High School. This is my 11th year at HFFMCSD and my 9thth year at JIO. I am looking forward to having an incredible year with my students. I am originally from Honduras, a country located in Central America. I came to the United States when I was fourteen years old. Education has transformed my life in many different ways. I know that education is the bridge to a better future.  I am looking forward to share my extensive knowledge about the Spanish language, culture, and literature with my students.

There are many reasons why children in America and around the world need to learn a second language. Spanish has become the second most spoken language in the United States due to our proximity to Spanish Speaking countries. There are roughly 50 million Spanish speaking people in the United States and still growing. There are also about 350-400 million people who speak Spanish in the western hemisphere. Additionally, learning a second language give students an opportunity to get to know a different part of the world. In order to compete in the current and future markets, knowing a second language gives one a better opportunity to be successful. Finally, I want all my students to really commit to learning this Spanish for it will help them to have a new perspective of culture and language.

    Sincerely,

    Maestro Lazo
