School Closing - Delayed Opening Procedures
School Closings / Delays:
All school closings and announcements of delayed openings will be aired on the following radio stations:
Information will also be sent out via Blackboard Connect through text and email or you can follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
NOTE: Fire sirens will NOT be used for school closing and delay information.
School Hours:
- Fort Montgomery Elementary School (K-2) – 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Pre-K) 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM
- Highland Falls Intermediate School – 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- James I. O’Neill High School – 7:20 AM – 1:54 PM (Expanded program Tuesday through Friday 1:54 – 2:24 PM)
Planned Early Dismissals:
For all early dismissal days listed on the district calendar, the dismissal time for the individual schools will be as follows:
- James I. O'Neill High School - 10:50 AM
- Highland Falls Intermediate School - 11:30 AM
- FM Elementary School (Pre-K) - 11:00 AM, (K-2) - 11:30 AM
Unexpected Early Dismissal:
The procedure for early dismissal due to unforeseen circumstances is as follows:
- The Superintendent will make the decision of the necessity to close the district.
- The bus companies will be notified of the need for transportation.
- Schools will be dismissed in the following order:
High School, Intermediate, then Fort School
While it is virtually impossible for the school to contact each parent or guardian in the case of an early dismissal, every effort will be made to do so, particularly at the primary level. Please check your e-mail if you have provided us with your e-mail address. You may also view the local cable channel in your township for any emergency information. Parents are urged to instruct their children as to where they should go for adult supervision if it becomes necessary to close.
