Mrs. Riley's Class - Library

  •

Welcome to the  Fort Montgomery Elementary Library

    Parents/Guardians,

My name is Mrs. Riley and I work in the library at  the Fort Montgomery  Elementary school.  We expect and encourage every child to take advantage of this privilege.  In our first library classes we have been talking about proper care and sharing of library materials and the importance of protecting them while they are in your home.  It is our sincere hope that all of our students realize that a library book belongs to everyone (school, staff, and students) and is to be treated with as much respect as one they buy from the store.  I am sure that you will help reinforce this social responsibility.

I am asking you to decide together with your child or children where you will keep the library book at home and how you will care for them so they are easily found and returned in good condition.  I have suggested to the children to keep their library books in their backpacks (bookbags) during the week.  This way they will always have their book on their scheduled library day.  Children who do not return their books do not get to check out another book until the book is returned.  When books are overdue for two weeks in a row, a reminder letter will be sent home with your child.  As in years past, we ask that books lost or damaged beyond repair be paid for at the current replacement cost.  When books are returned promptly and handled with care, they can be shared with a larger number of children so everyone benefits.

The Fort Montgomery schools run on a six day schedule.  Your child will have library on one of these given days, B or D days.  Library classes will be part of that day’s schedule.  Because your given day may vary each week, your child’s library day might be marked on a calendar as a family reminder.

We are working hard to bring a quality library program to our elementary school.  Together we can make good things happen for all of our students.   I hope I have answered any questions you may have had, but if not you may reach me at the Fort Montgomery Elementary School.  I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.  Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Marybeth Riley
