READING BUDDIES CLUB ENGRAVED BRICK FUNDRAISER
Reading Buddies Club
Engraved Brick Fundraiser
Are you looking for a great way to honor your graduate or alumnus?
Would you like to leave a lasting legacy for your family?
Have an O'Neill club or sport you would like to advertise in a unique way?
Purchase a brick for the James I. O’Neill Student Walkway!
What is the Reading Buddies Club?
The Reading Buddies Club pairs high school students with first-graders for a monthly visit filled with reading, literacy activities, and fun. During each visit, the high schoolers read aloud with their younger buddies, engaging them with stories while fostering a love for reading. They also participate in literacy games and activities that promote learning in an enjoyable way. The club emphasizes building strong relationships between the students, as they laugh, share stories, and grow together, creating a supportive environment where both the high schoolers and first-graders benefit from the connection.
How will the proceeds be used?
Proceeds from the brick sales will help fund the club's activities, including the purchase of books and supplies for literacy games and projects that enrich the learning experience for young readers. Additionally, the funds will support the establishment of a college/post-secondary scholarship fund, providing opportunities for participating high school students to continue their education. By purchasing an engraved brick, you not only leave a lasting mark on our campus but also contribute to the success and growth of this impactful program.
Where will it be located?
The walkway will be showcased right in front of O'Neill High School in the flagpole area! The walkway is 22 feet long and 2 feet wide and leads to the flagpole. Click here for the brick walkway locator map.
How often will the bricks be ordered?
Our brick fundraiser is designed to be completed over five phases, spanning five years, with the goal of replacing blank bricks with engraved ones throughout the process. Phase 1, which took place during the 2023-2024 school year, was a success and the bricks are ordered as of the end of September. We are awaiting a few capital improvement projects to be completed this fall and then the brick walkway is slated to be installed. Thank you all so much for your support. Our plan is to install the first set of engraved bricks, along with the initial blank ones, this fall. However, please note that due to the ongoing capital improvement project across our campus and district, there may be some delays in the initial installation. We are now in Phase 2, which covers the 2024-2025 school year, and our goal is to sell and install 29 engraved bricks. If we exceed the goal in any given year, any additional bricks sold will be placed in the school year when purchased using the next phase's brick pattern. Click here for the walkway goals and phases document.
